Preis - Best Student Paper Award
Anca Maria Ivanescu received a Recognition of Best Student Paper Award for the paper Employing Correlation Clustering for the Identification of Piecewise Affine Models presented at the International Workshop on Knowledge Discovery, Modeling and Simulation (KDMS 2011) in conjunction with the 17th ACM SIGKDD Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (KDD 2011) on August 21st, 2011 in San Diego, California.
Demonstration of the UMIC HealtNet Project at Lousberglauf 2011
At this year's Aachener Lousberg Run also a team of the UMIC (Ultra Highspeed Mobile Information and Communication) HealthNet project of the RWTH Aachen University participated. The interdisciplinary team was constituted of five runners (Dr. Christoph Quix, Xiang Li, and Sandra Geisler of the Information Systems chair, Saim Kim of the Philips chair for Medical Information Technology (MedIT), and Marwan Hassani of the Data Management and Data Exploration chair) who started in a field of about 2000 runners.

Preis - Informatiktage 2011: Best paper award
Herr Cand.-Inform. Steffen Kirchhoff hat bei den GI-Informatiktagen 2011 unter mehr als 70 Einreichungen eine Auszeichnung für das "Best Paper" erhalten. Die Informatiktage 2011 fanden als fachwissenschaftlicher Kongress der Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI) im B-IT Bonn-Aachen Center for Information Technology statt. Die Arbeit von Herrn Kirchhoff trägt den Titel "Quadratische Form-Distanz für Wahrscheinlichkeitsverteilungen zur inhaltsbasierten Suche" und fasst seine am Lehrstuhl für Informatik 9 der RWTH Aachen durchgeführte Diplomarbeit zusammen.
Preis - OMM-Preis am Tag der Informatik 2010
Herr Dipl.-Inform. Philipp Kranen hat einen der drei Preise der "One-Minute-Madness" auf dem Tag der Informatik 2010 erhalten. Zwanzig Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden der Fachgruppe Informatik waren angetreten, um in jeweils hundert Sekunden ihr Forschungsgebiet zu präsentieren. Eine Jury wählte die besten Beiträge aus. Philipp Kranen berichtete über seine Forschung im Bereich "Anytime Data Mining", das Video zu seinem Beitrag gibts hier.
